Workshops

Workshop structures vary, depending on such things as the length of time available, the number of participants, the aspects of writing to be explored, and whether the emphasis is on critiquing submitted writing or creating new writing through assigned exercises.
Some topics I cover are character development, setting and dialogue. In each of these sessions I give one or more short exercises on the theme. The resulting pieces of writing can be discussed and critiqued. Further exercises can be suggested.
As well as working with adults, I have instructed the week-long summer Sage Hill Teen Writing Experience in Saskatoon and the half-day Kids Ink sessions at the Moose Jaw Festival of Words.
